Elizabeth Paisley Huckaby collection, 1906-1997.

This collection spans chronologically from 1906 to 1997 and contains: Huckaby's notes and transcriptions of letters written by her grandparents Emma Butler and William Paisley; personal correspondence (1969-1990) including letter to the Little Rock Nine, to publishers to shop her manuscript, and a series of letters to her brother Bill Paisley during 1957-58 compiled and entitled "Letters to Bill;" news clippings about her retirement, about her movie and book, about the Central High integration crisis and the related issues of segregation and race relations. Most of the clippings are from the Arkansas Gazette and a fair amount of them are compiled in two scrapbooks along with printed items from segregationists and memos from the Little Rock school board to teachers. Also included are; photographs; materials from Huckaby's travels; her 10th grade English grammar lessons; her personal journals spanning the years of 1956, 1978-1997; and papers and a scrapbook belonging to her husband, Glen T. Huckaby. Journals, correspondence, notes, school bulletins, memoranda, reports, interview transcripts and other materials created or collected by Huckaby in the course of her administrative duties or as the result of her personal experiences during the academic year of 1957-1958. Also included are two drafts of Huckaby's book, Crisis at Central High: Little Rock, 1957-1958.
